Polymethacrylimide (PMI) foam is a rigid closed-cell foaming material, available in white (Zihacell®) or light yellow (Zihafoam®) colors. It features light weight, high strength, environmental friendliness, high temperature resistance, low dielectric constant, easy processing, fatigue resistance, easy bonding, and a high closed-cell ratio.
PMI foam is used as the core material for composite material sandwich structures, which can simplify the process, shorten the cycle, and solve the problems faced by honeycomb core materials such as coarse holes, easy moisture absorption, and easy delamination, as well as the problems of traditional foam core materials such as low strength, low modulus, and poor heat resistance, thereby enhancing the reliability and lifespan of composite material sandwich structural components.
